“Cancel the Funeral, I decided to LIVE” – That chant rings out to me when I need it most. Pastor Claveron Burston Jr. began to sing it out from the depths of his belly midway through a service. I can only imagine the heaviness of his heart knowing that those that he loved were suffering in a way that he could not heal. He knew that healing comes by faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So to every ear that was under the sound of his voice that was battling with dying inside, battling with dying outside, battling with dying by self desires to end this life, heard the faith call. The faith call was “cancel the funeral, I decided to LIVE”.

Many know what it’s like to try to feel an ounce of belonging by simply imagining your own funeral: what will they all say, who will be there, what will be the greatest accomplishment that no one could stop talking about …. and just when you imagine that one person that plucks your heart strings at just the right chord, you can’t hold back the tears because in that moment, you understand that you have loved and that you are loved. In that moment, you decide, THERE IS MORE, THERE IS GREATER, “Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world”. 1 John 4:4
And when you realize that, you can’t contain what’s containing you and you find that last bit of strength, you whimper one of the most powerful cries, “GOD I NEED YOUR HELP”. Before you can wipe your last tear, his strength is made perfect in your weakness and then you begin to understand: Purpose is beyond a feeling, its a way of life. That way ignites “FOR GOD I’ll LIVE, FOR GOD I’LL DIE” and just when I needed it most, Jesus carried what I could not unwind – TIME and just like that, by his stripes, we are healed. TRY CHRIST!
