Be Bound and Still Work

God wants us to be still, but at the same time he wants us to work; he wants us to work on our relationship with him. He wants us to draw closer to him and more importantly, God wants to equip us to be a greater asset to his kingdom. So many of us have allowed obstacles in life to stunt our growth; it is important that we trust God for a miraculous result. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”. There are times that God tells us to sit still, so that he can move in our lives; yet, while we are still, we must use this time to spiritually work. The pandemic had all of us in a place where we were all bound; we, the world, was basically shut down. No, we couldn’t go anywhere; yes, we were stuck in the house for the most part. But spiritually it should have been a time of refreshing, regrouping, and retreating. God is counting on us believers to make sure that everyone is getting spiritual care during and after this season.

Lastly, as Good Friday approaches, let us reflect on the events that led up to these days. Although Jesus was bound to the cross, it was all a part of his Father’s divine plan. It didn’t look like it, but he was working as he was being crucified. Jesus knew that the betrayal, unbelief, hurt, pain, and suffering had a greater purpose. His dying on the cross was for us. We were his assignment. On Resurrection Sunday, his purpose for being bound was fulfilled. “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death”. Philippians 3:10
