Have you ever tried to figure out your purpose in life? If so, you will know that it’s difficult because we all are aware that we have some sort of reason for being alive. So what do you do? Many people have found success by using live seminars by so-called gurus or motivational speakers, or visiting a friend that usually reminds you of what you already knew. There are a few things you should know before you buy or implement a “New Year, New You!” program, to ensure you show up as your BEST Self. This blog will tell you what you need to know to make sure you select a process that will let you successfully tap into the untapped purpose of your life.

If you’re looking for a clear understanding of God’s plan/purpose for you, the best method to ensure you end up with something that lets you live your best life is by looking for these things:

  • Make sure your everyday thoughts of yourself and where you desire to be, are aligned with the thoughts of The Lord, “I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”(Jer 29:11 MSG) and daily affirmations that constantly remind you of who you are and WHOSE you are. If it doesn’t, you’ll find yourself spinning your wheels and going nowhere fast.
  • Ensure your morning routine has a scripture or two or three in it, so you can meditate on it all day and night.
  • Any good plan should allow room for you to stumble. My associate calls it “Learning Up” vs. “Messing Up”! I call it failing forward. In this life we have to not be so hard on ourselves that we get stuck on the obstacle and never move forward. This is important because: God makes everything work together… (Phil. 4:8 MSG)

In my opinion, there are a few other things that are necessary, some great bonus features of a great plan are identifying a mentor (Prov. 27:14), creating a journal where you write your goals (Habakkuk 2:2 MSG), and having someone who will encourage you to remain focused (Ps. 35:27 MSG)

Now that you know how to start your journey, you’re ready for a “New Year, New You!” without worrying about how to start. Don’t hold back! For all things are possible, to him that believe! (Mark 9:23 NKJV).
